If you are interested in artificial intelligence and large language models (LSMs), you have a unique opportunity to try out Falcon 40B, the UAE’s first large-scale AI model, which is now open source for research and commercial use.
Falcon 40B is a 40 billion parameter fundamental BLM trained on one trillion text passages. It outperforms Meta’s LLaMA and StableLM in many respects, such as text generation quality, learning speed and energy efficiency.
The UAE’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) provides access to the model’s weights as the most comprehensive open source package in order to open up access to the powerful capabilities of LLaMA, implementing principles of transparency and accountability, and supporting innovation and research in the field.
In addition, TII has issued a call for applications from scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs who want to use the model to create exemplary use cases or explore additional applications in areas such as engineering, health, sustainability, programming and more. Outstanding proposals for use cases will receive “learning computing power” as an investment, and TII will offer commercialisation opportunities.
